Show Week!

Hello Brontities, Lucy here.

I doubt this will be a very long post as I think if I let myself, I could carry on for years about how much fun I had last night. It was of course the opening night of our show last night and my word what a show we have! I’m so proud and grateful for everyone’s efforts last night, the cast acted their socks off and the team behind them were just as super.

This week is an odd one as my job is coming to a close, most of what I do now involves watching, applauding and occasionally crying at how beautiful everything is. I don’t want to think about this week being over and I shan’t let myself yet, as we still have 3 more shows to give you, each of which will keep getting better and better. All I can say is that if you haven’t got a ticket yet - go buy one now, you won’t regret it and I’d love to see as many people there as possible.

After the show we all headed down to Radhuni’s on London Road for some flippin’ awesome curry! They were amazing and let us give all our lovely first night speeches way past their closing time - so a big thanks to them! Then later we went on to our other sponsors West Street Live where I sat down for the most part, just trying to take everything in (and because I’m a very bad dancer).

This is one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had at Uni so far, I said it last night but I’ll say it again on here - I knew about SuTCo before I came to Sheffield, but what I couldn’t know was just how lovely the people I would meet, would be.

Thank you all, enjoy the rest of this week, keep spreading the word, watching the trailer, and coming to see the show! Happy Show Week everyone :)

We totally just did a dress run!

And it was wondrous :)

Everything went incredibly well, currently listening tithe feedback from Lucy in the green room. I think she is a very happy director right now (I know I would be).
We also had a lot of fun playing spot the photographer during the run - he took some wonderful pictures but kept mystically disappearing and then reappearing in the wings, or on the balcony - very amusing.

He said he really enjoyed it too - out first bit of an outside perspective!

I am very excited. I just can’t wait. And we all get to eat curry tomorrow night for the first night meal!

Yum!
Lots of fun theatre times ahead

Music Man

Hey everyone, it’s Rob the composer here (I might have that on my gravestone…)

Well, the rest of the cast and crew are at the tech run (and probably will be done pretty soon). It was really weird today when I realised that my job is actually done. I’ve finished all the composing and editing with all the fancy software I’ve got back home. I’ve uploaded all of the music to the magic boxes in the control room, ready for the night. And I’ve listened to everything back through the Studio’s sound system, okayed it, and decided that it doesn’t need anymore tweaking. And THAT’s scary! Now it’s just down to the cast and the rest of the crew to actually do the show.

I’m sure that the other designers are thinking similar things, but personally I can’t wait to see everything come together on Wednesday. I’m specifically not going to the dress rehearsal tomorrow so that I can see the whole thing for the first time with an audience sat with me. When you’re putting together a production, you never really get to see much until this week, you’ve only got an idea from your little side of this massive thing, so it’s amazing to see what you’ve done come together with everyone else’s hard work and effort.

Bring on the show! I’ve massively enjoyed myself over the last few weeks, and really hope all the rest of the team have too!

Love and Lollipops,

Rob

We’re doing a tech run!

Well… Everybody else is. Im eating biscuits and nodding at what people say to me - purely because at this stage in the process I’m primarily useless, apart from if you need tea. But not biscuits. The biscuits are MINE.
Because there are so many cues in the play, Hamish our stage manager has opted to use the time as a pre-dress run - so our cast has the opportunity to do two dress rehearsals! Lucky them!

Only two days to go until the first night - so scary but also so exciting. I finished off the programme today and I’m thrilled with it - mainly due to the sheer amount of Bronte puns I’ve managed to slide in there, keep a look out for them.

Come and see us on Wednesday, so much hard work has gone into this and it would be a shame if you couldn’t see the results. I suppose that’s the wonderful thing about the theatre, a production won’t stick around forever.

Now enough of the philosophy of art.
We’re doing a show!

Bertha’s thoughts

I want.

I want to be loved.

So hurting.

Desiring to be, to be heard, to be loved.

Love me. Make me. Hurt me.

Don’t leave me, I’m so sorry.

I’m lost. Lost in words. Lost in love. Can’t find it.

So confused.

They say my name is Bertha, I don’t know if they’re right.

They say I was once loved, I don’t know if they’re right.

There’s just one thing I’m sure of: the Brontees are on stage with a BRONTASTIC play from the 22nd until the 25th of February!!

Confused Brontë love,

Bertha

Dan in (thanks for the tag Lucy).
Designing the set for Bronte has been a wonderful experience for me, it’s my first time actually doing so and it’s been interesting and entertaining. The get-in today has been really relaxed, Jimbo organised everything really well and so what could be a hectic, stressful day has gone really nicely.
We’ve not been able to follow my design perfectly unfortunately, the shelves which I had hoped would hold most of the props onstage have had to be left out as we couldn’t find any of a suitable length, and we’ve been having issues with Bertha’s crib, or more specifically, the covering thereof. However, as we still have a good few hours and a lot of fabric,I’m confident that we’ll have a set that looks great, and really gets across what I was hoping for with my design.
Dan out.

Hello lovelies, we’re doing a Get In! No idea what one of those involves, neither does Emma Bev! But we’re all here and doing our best to not get in the way or do anything dangerous. Mr Donnelly is keeping us all under control and I think, if we have a schedule we’re sticking to it… James seems happy anyway so that’s the main thing. Basically today is all about getting the space ready for the cast to come in and do their stuff, i’ve made this sound very simple - it’s not. However saying this, today has been very chilled and I can’t wait to see it all come together under the lights and with all the set dressing, it’s going to be very exciting! Right, enough blogging I’m going to go hold a ladder or something :) Hope you’re all having a very relaxed Sunday afternoon and preparing to see our amazing show. Bye bye, Lucy out. Xx

Become part of the Bronte family!

Today we have our city rally - quite possibly my favourite day when it comes to publicity - and are taking Sheffield by storm! The Bronte family have been coxed out of their little house on the moors for an adventure on fargate.
Lots of flyer fun to be had!
Come and say hello, and have your picture taken with the Bronte family.

I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday…..
